Maybe it's time...
We lost our beloved doggie one year ago (August 27th to be exact) he was 14 years old. That's him up there in the sun. That's how I like to remember him. The kids have just recently started asking for a new pup, which I often find strange. After he died, they never asked. We were all so devastated , but I thought the kids would start asking right away, for which I was prepared to tell them that we needed to wait a little bit. I never had to have that conversation. I guess they were still grieving for our Cody and knew in their hearts that he could never be replaced so quickly. So many nights after Cody died, little man cried himself to sleep as I held him. He was so close to Cody, they were buddies. It's hard to explain any death to children, let alone a pet that they played with, were comforted by when they were sick like a snuggle buddy and brought them joy and smiles everyday.
So maybe it's time? I really miss the sound of little doggie nails on the hardwood floors, always a friend to greet you when you come home and curling up on a rainy day with soft fur tickling my face.

Aww, i am so sorry about your dog. He was so cute! I really hope you all can find another pup that can help fill that void in your lives! I am sure there is a lil pup out there just waiting to be adopted and to love your family up!!! :)

I'm so sorry about your loss - it's like losing a member of your family. Our dog is getting older (she's 11) and it's hard to watch her as she slows down and ages, b/c she was our baby before we had our babies! My heart goes out to you and your family and wish you all the best as you search for that special new addition to your family!

Losing an animal is harder then one realizes. We are a family of animal lovers and have many. IT is always so hard, but they are such a joy to have. Good luck no your journey of finding a new beloved pet. IT will be exciting.

Hi Tara,
Oh my goodness, your little Cody was so sweet in that picture. I know our pets hold a loving place in our hearts that never goes away. They bring us so much joy and unconditional love on a daily or minute by minute basis:)
You have a beautiful blog, I found it from Heather Bullards post :)
Blessings,
Carol

Cody was absolutely precious.
When we had to put our 16 year old doxie "down", I thought we'd never have or love another dog again. But we did and Maggie has been such a joy and blessing.
Life is so short. All we truly have is now. I think you will love "falling in love" again with a new little furbaby - in Cody's honor. ((hugs))

It is hard to know when is the right time to invite another pet into your home. It's funny how much we miss them when they are gone.

What a cutie patootie your Cody was:-) It's rough when we lose these fur babies, and for sure they can't ever be replaced in our hearts. You have a big heart though Tara, so it may be time soon to fill it with more puppy love!

Your Cody was so cute!
I know the difficulty in losing a pet. They are so much a member of a family. We are "dog people". It's funny, non "dog or other pet people" don't seem to understand the connection between the pet and family.
I wish you the best in finding a new friend/family member!

Tara, your Cody was an absolute darling! How happy he looks on that picture! Our sweet Beau is getting older, and as a family we are dreading losing him, yet I know any day could be the day.
I think a new furbaby(or two!) would be so loved at your home...can't wait to see the pictures of your new furry one!

it is hard to imagine another animal in your life once you have lost one that you had for so many years. I found myself in a similar situation and thought once my dog was gone I would not get another one. Well, it took me about 2 years and now I have a 10 month old puppy and I can't imagine life without him. when the time is right you will know. Stacey

Cody looks exactly like our Raggs. We had him for l6 years and he was 2 when we got him. He died last October. My hubby and I still reminisce about him and laugh about his antics. But he had cataracts, heart trouble, loss of most of his hearing, and started dementia. We saw his decline and he was so miserable. But I believe we will see him again and I wouldn't trade my sadness because we loved him every day. Good luck in the future and enjoy your search for the new member of your family.
