The Foyer
photos from Traditional Home
Now that's a nice entrance! Not mine (*sigh*), but I'm gathering ideas for my foyer since we are in the middle of a re-vamp. Not long ago it had a piano temporarily in it, remember? Now we have beautiful molding, and a fresh coat of paint. A table chandelier and an antique french mirror are all that sit there now. It's such a huge ginormous two story space, I have no idea what I was thinking when we built this Farmhouse six years ago and laid out this foyer. I could fit a school bus in there if I wanted to, it's ridiculous. I believe the foyer says so much about your home. It's the first thing guests see upon entering and makes them feel welcome. Right now my foyer is saying to guests "get the heck outta here". So I am collecting some inspirational photos in my design binder and will keep you posted!

Wow! Some great ideas! I had a 2 story foyer in my last house, and it WAS a challenge. Good luck with yours...I can't wait to see what fabulous thing you'll do!

These two are beautiful. I love the foyer in "Carolyn Westbrook Home" too. In my foyer you almost have room to open the front door. Can't wait to see what you do!

Wow, those are beautiful inspiration pictures! I, like Jackie, don't have much of a foyer. The only decorating I can do is to hang things on the wall! I can't wait to see yours!

My entry says 'get the heck out of here' too. Ah well....I figure if I distract people with cake and cookies, they won't take notice of the shambles...

The green of that foyer is so warm & welcoming...it definitely invites you in to explore more. I think collecting inspiration photos is almost as much fun as transforming your space.
Lovely blog Tara - in design and writing! I'll make sure and visit again.

I love the first photo with the limestone flooring, at least it kinda looks like that's what it is. Very European looking. I am sure whatever you do will be fantastic! Hope you share your finished project.

That is beautiful!! My foyer is usually covered with legos, and sometimes traps. I need to hide our copy of "Home Alone" from my kids so my guest can make it in the door.

What a great day and place to spend it. I love the red hatters. When I'm old enough I'm gonna be one. I wish my Mother and MIL would look into it. Those ladies are Alive and Loving it.

What a beautiful foyer! All your posts are wonderful. We feel as though we were able to wander those cobblestone paths with you! Can't wait to check out the new book as well!

The "Foyer" is one of my favorite places to decorate...That is the first area to really make a statement!
Love your blog and your "Chic" designs!
