37 Candles

UGH! Another birthday for me today.  I do not like the sound of 37... I mean how much closer to 40 can you get?!  I had a jam packed day of birthday wishes from my wonderful pink friends at Make Mine Pink  Have you seen the cool eCards we have?  Check them out! Free eCards at Make Mine Pink Not to mention the endless ringing of my telephone with friends and family serenading me with the birthday song!  I had two wonderful surprises for my birthday, the first was my very first, and OH SO PINK, iPod!  Including a baby pink case. Blog_142_copy_1 My dear friend sent it to me with so much love and care, I thank her from the bottom of my heart!  I'm a dancing fool, singing my songs extra loud, and repeatedly being told by my kids what a horrible singer I am.  Blog_139_copy Another big surprise came from hubby, beautiful diamond small hoop earrings!  He also cooked a wonderful dinner and made a chocolate cake.  (Did I mention he is an excellent cook and probably should have been a chef!)  The kids made me their precious handmade cards, which I treasure and always save them in my memory boxes.

Bella Slips!

Ok, I give in!  I have had so many emails and requests....so here is a sneak peek at our chair slipcover line!  The fabric is gorgeous and I am so thrilled the way the turned out.  Our artist, Diane, did an amazing job,  Superior craftsmanship.  So plush, soft and romantic.  We have a beautiful ottoman slipcover to match also.  These new slipcovers, along with the pillows, will be an exclusive design at Bella Pink.  Stay tuned, we will be listing in our boutique shortly!

A Formal Dinner Party

Last night my husband and I put on our best to attend our friend's annual Valentine's Day formal dinner party.  It was a bit belated this year, but well worth the wait!  Our friend takes entertaining to a new level .  From the moment you enter their beautiful home that is hidden way off the road and sits on 10 glorious acres,Image4  you are greeted by a calm and relaxed hostess (you think she would be frazzled)  I know she has been cooking and preparing all week long, making everything from scratch (right down to the desserts, including homemade ice cream!)   Her giant dining room table is beautifully set for 22 people.  Nothing is spared, we each have a handmade place card, a valentine box with goodies inside, and each setting has a gift bag with our names on it.  Blog_115 The lighting is just right, candles are everywhere.  Music is perfectly set and pumped throughout each room (thanks to an integrated audio system with small speakers built into each room's ceiling)  She loves to mix up the guests, so your place card is not next to your husband.  In fact, my husband was clear down the other end of the table.  But it's ok, you get to talk people you wouldn't normally mingle with while standing around having appetizers.  Sitting down next to them, you get to know them better.  Under each place setting was a tiny piece of paper with our name, with a sentence written on it. (some were crazy things most people would never say and things I could never type here!)  Our hostess announced that we had to work the sentence into our dinner conversation and whoever did it best would win a beautiful Waterford crystal decanter.  She held it up and showed everyone like a Price Is Right showgirl.  Needless to say my crazy hubby won...here's how...When all drinks were poured and our salads were served...he proposed a toast to our hosts, I was thinking (from way down the table) "wow, I taught him really nice manners", then he blurted out his sentence in the toast (like I said... I can't repeat!) and I was mortified, but everyone cracked up and he won hands down!  As a surprise, she also had pictures of each guest attending, blown up and put into a gallery in the billiard room. Blog_119  She found the most horrible pictures of each of us from past parties(on purpose) BUT she had a beautiful picture of herself and her husband in the middle!  It was great to laugh at each other looking ridiculous!  By the end of the night, we took a marker to her picture and you can only imagine what it ended up looking like.  Blog_111_1 The night was ended by a fun dice game and you only needed 3 dollars to play- my kind of game!

Great food, good friends and lots of laughs!

"I Can At Mom-Mom's"

Grandparent_cracker_1

My daughter spent the day with my parents yesterday...all rules go out the window when she is there.  She is "Queen for the Day" and treated like royalty, painted nails, toes and all.  Don't you wish there was a place us grown up's could go to, be waited on hand and foot, never hear the word "no", have people hang on our every word and think we are the funniest and greatest human beings on the planet?!!  I guess there is always the spa, but you have to pay for that!

Some things my daughter has said as to why she loves to go to "Mom-Mom & Pop Pop's house":

A Nice Surprise

I had a wonderful surprise in the mail the other day!  It was a beautiful charm necklace from Kim at Rose Blossom Cottage   She makes the most beautiful jewelry from vintage plates, etc..take a minute to check our her pretty boutique.   Here's the story behindBlog_099_copy  the surprise; Kim bought some salvage chic from me and I sent her a pretty Limoges plate that was broken in bits and pieces and I didn't have the heart to throw away.  She surprised me with this beautiful charm made from the broken plate!  Isn't it pretty?  I will cherish it forever, thank you for brightening my day Kim!

Ethan Goes Pink

Ethan_allen

isn't this quick page digi great?  Here is where I bought it: Scrapbook Graphics

After browsing through the new Ethan Allen furniture catalogue, (a whopping 320 pages!) I was excited to see a room and accessories in PINK.  They call it "The Blush of Romance".  I have a lot of furniture from Ethan Allen during their french provincial phase (they have discontinued that line)  Lots of big, antique white furniture that looks like it came straight from France.  I was disappointed with their new look until I came to these pages.  Of course hubby would never allow a pink family room, but one can dream!  (I sneak it in when I can.)Blog_055

Get Lost!

I'm a big fan of Lost (and Matthew FOX...his name speaks for itself!)Lost2_1 Anyway, I don't know why I am obsessed with the show or trying to figure out the big mystery.  After I watch it, I always have a migraine from thinking too much and I end up having bad dreams all night long!  I think the writers of the show mess with the minds of us loyal followers, don't you?  I won't give up on it though, I'm in too deep, PLUS, I need my weekly dose of Fox (even if he wasn't on the show last night!)

My Funny Valentine

Vday

It's a Keeper!

Look what hubby brought home today!  He is helping to restore an old Victorian which a friend of ours owns.  He found these old shabby mirrors in the barn, they appear to have been closet doors, complete with a glass knob and antique key hole!  Can you believe it was headed for the dumpster? There are 2 of them, this is one after a good scrubbing.  Now I need to figure out the perfect spot for them!

A snowstorm is headed this way.  Things are gray and dreary outside, so I thought I would do a collage of my favorite photos to make things bright and cheery around here!

Tiffany Blue

Ok, I know we are all pinked out here...but who doesn't love the infamous "blue" box?  I remember my first one, from my parents, I still remember screaming and jumping up and down, not even knowing (or caring) what was inside, I just loved the box!  So with Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought I would drop some hints to hubby and leave some boxes around my studio.

Men At Work

Here is my superman making a frame! We are starting to make our frames for the canvas print line from antique shutters we salvage from old Victorian homes here in Pennsylvania.  I'm fortunate to have "connections" through my family's construction business and we are able to rescue these old beauties!  Some of the homes we renovate date back to the early 1800's.  Oh...the history

Hey, that's us!

Rhoct2006cover

Wait let me check again...Yep! That IS us!
I can't explain the feeling of opening a magazine and seeing your own home inside, not to mention your children as well! Rhoct2006collage_2
It was like an out of body experience when the October issue of Romantic Homes hit the newstands in 2006. Staring back at me was a four page article spread featuring our childrens playroom, entitled "A Storybook Idea" I'm still a bit shaky in the knees over it!  The article is about how we transformed our bare and very plain room into a cool space for the kids.  The before shot is really hideous!LOL!

It was a wonderful experience that I hope to be able to re-live again in other publications! Stay tuned!

Fridge Chaos

Dsc00202

Why does the outside of my fridge look like this? I keep my house clean and tidy, pet peeve is dishes in the sink..so you will never see a dish or glass in my sink for longer that 2 minutes. YET my fridge is in complete chaos, filled with clutter, pictures, magnets, calendars, doctors appointments- I FOUND ONE FROM A YEAR AGO! That is bad. Ok, so I will add to my list of things to do: Clean Up The Fridge Clutter!

Office Greeting

On the 2nd floor of the carriage house on our property is my home office, I thought I would share what greets me each morning. It's a rather large handpainted window pane that we built it right into the framing during construction, isn't it cute? It says "Rosie On Inn"
